Welcome to Tuesday Tidbits, episode 4. This week was a bit more eventful than last week. This week we experienced a pumpkin patch, had a couple little day dates with my spouse as he was off on Monday and was home early on Friday, started watching some Halloween scaries, more fall comfort food with homemade Alfredo sauce, and had some yummy pumpkin donuts. Let's dive in.
1. Scary shows for Halloween
Once October hits, my husband starts putting on the scary shows or movies. I am fine with scary but don't really like the gory horror flicks. This week we watched Haunted on Netflix. There are 2 seasons. It is about people's real like experiences with something haunted, scary, or supernatural. The person talks with a few of their family/friends about the experience.
It is very interesting to hear their stories. Some of them I feel are really more symptoms of maybe a mental illness or PTSD than something actually paranormal. Many are things that I do believe in. I'm a big baby when it comes to scary things and the dark, mainly bcause I believe in the possibility. My husband thinks it is fake, a mental illness, illusions, or any other explantion.
Regardless, it is a good show. It's a great Halloween watch.
2. Day date with my husband
on Friday my husband's office closed early so he was able to come home and we went on a littel day date before picking up the kids from school. We went out for a drink. I was able to get a nice glass of wine and then tried a pumpkin russian. It was basically a white russian with pumpkin spice flavor. It was so yummy!
My husband and I don't get alot of time out alone. We have our kids and we don't have family out here. I have talked out finding a sitter and start interviewing them to have someone on standby but of course we still have our reservations and I haven't went forward with it. I'm a protective mommy, what can I say.
Whenever we get the chance, we try to spend the time together. It is important in order to keep the relationship going as strong as it can be. Having kids does not make things easier on a marriage. It's important to do what we can to help.
3. Pumpkin patch
We try to go every year to the pumpkin patch and this year we were able to add Claire. She was born in November so she was not able to go last year. This year is a different story. It was so great being able to have two little girls to enjoy the fall festivities with.
We went to Madrac Farms in Rincon, Ga. It was a cute little farm with a small pumpkin patch to pick from, a little playground, a big slide, ducks and goats to feed, and a corn maze. Aubrey very much enjoyed every activity there was to enjoy. Claire was a little to small to really enjoy but she sat so nicely in the wagon and enjoyed the ride.
One of the only negatives was that it was a rainy day. It didn't stop us from having fun anyways. One thing I miss out here from the placed we used to go in Chicago was apple picking and the fresh pumpkin and apple donuts. The couple pumpkin patches we went to out here did not have those homemade treats that I miss. The apple orchards are not in the area. We would have to go up to the northern region of the state. At this point it is hard to drive that far with Claire. Being under 1 yr old, she gets very restless in the car. As of right now, the closer the better.
4. Pumpkin donuts from Krispy Kreme
What we don't really have in Chicago anymore is fresh Krispy Kreme donuts. We live right down the street from one now. We don't go all the time but I wanted to fulfill my pumpkin donut treat that I missed after the pumpkin patch. I tried Krispy Kreme's pumpkin donut. It has really helped that craving. They were so super good. They were fresh, soft, and something creamy about it.
5. Fall comfort foods: Homemade Alfredo sauce
I really love pasta and one thing I love is freshy, creamy Alfredo sauce. It is so warm and comforting. We have tried multiple brands that we can get in a jar and they just do not taste that great. I decided to try to make it homemade. I wanted something simple so I decided to try this recipe.
This was so delicious. It was exactly what I needed to fulfill my craving. With cream, butter, and parmesan cheese it was the perfect comfort food.
I wish you and your family a great week ahead.
