Welcome to Tuesday Tidbits, Episode 3. Do you ever feel like you had alot going on yet feel like you did nothing at the same time? That's how this week was for me. I feel like I kept very busy but maybe it was still nothing exciting to write about. I still have 5 tidbits but I felt less inspired this week. It was just one of those busy mundane weeks.
Well, let's dive in.
1. Cleaning and motivation
In our house, it's basically the idea that if you have the motivation to do something like cleaning or a project, you go in full force. You don't know when that motivation will come back.
This week I felt extremely motivated to clean and keep up the cleanliness of the home. Usually we do some deep cleaning on the weekends and have noticed how difficult it can be with the kids especially with a now walking infant who always wants to be on the go.
We started some deep cleaning last weekend and during the week I continued to work on some extra cleaning and projects around the house. Work was a bit slow for me last week and I am still working from home so I tried to utilize my time by freeing up our weekends from those cleaning tasks.
It actually worked for the best because my husband spend his whole saturday helping my brother fix both of our cars. Car problems are stressful and expensive so this really helped keep costs down. I had to watch the kids on my own so it is a little hard also adding in housework.
I still have that motivation this week so I intend on keeping it going. I have a list of things I want to accomplish like cleaning our microwave and fridge inside (the shelves can get a bit sticky), clean out some closets for space, mopping floors, etc. If the motivation and energy is there then I have to just keep it going.
2. Adding cinnamon in our coffee
My husband usually makes the coffee in the morning and he decided to add a little extra to it by adding cinnamon in the grounds so it gets added in when it is brewed.
It is just a small little tweak but adds a world of difference. I have needed less coffee creamer because it has a nicer flavor on its own. We usually just use $8 Sam's Club coffee because it lasts for so long. It doesn't taste bad. Actually we have liked it compared to some other ones we have tried. The cinnamon has made all the difference. Perfect for fall!
3. Trying a new wine
I typically prefer white wine over red. White is sweeter than red and red often leaves me with a headache. I wanted to try something new and found this Fruitscato wine. It is a sweet, red wine. It is one that I prefer as a dessert wine.
I like to add some strawberries to it for a bit of extra yum. It would also be great to use as a wine slushie. If you haven't tried my slushie, you can find the recipe HERE.
4. Crockpot comfort foods for fall
There is something with the crispness of the fall air that calls for some comfort foods. We made some pot roast in the crockpot on sunday. I personally don't eat pot roast (I only each chicken and turkey in regards to meat), but I do love the carrots and potatoes. We add extra stock so that there is extra juice and I like to add it over some egg noodles. It is so hearty and comforting. Our plan is to try to use our crockpot more during the season and have a nice comfort meal on sundays.
I have been looking to try this Crockpot Bourbon Chicken and some Slow Cooker Chicken and Dumplings.
5. Monday October 5 was our wedding anniversary
My husband and I got married October 5, 2013 which makes us married 7 years. We started dating October 1, 2009. We met at the bar I worked at in which he and his friends were regulars. We went on a date right after that. My husband says the October 1 date is the one he celebrates. I say it is the wedding anniversary because that is when we became "stuck". Regardless, we have been together over a decade and have been on quite the journey.
We used to go out and celebrate. Now with 2 kids we don't have much time or ability to go out on our own.
I hope you have a great and fulfilling week. The air has been feeling great an I've been trying to spend more time outside.
