Sometimes I feel that there is a misconception that work clothes need to be boring and basic. Yes, it is good to keep basics in your closet like black pants, a black pencil skirt and basic button downs and blazers. This does NOT need to be your daily repertoire. Yes, there are times at work that you need to keep things basic and neutral. There are those meetings with important people where you want to keep it neutral, not stand out or be offensive. But on the daily, I believe is totally ok to add some color into your work clothes yet still be able to keep things professional. I am totally in the mindset that fun colorful clothes will help make a workday feel less boring. The outer world and inner world has a connection. If your outer world is rotten then you will feel rotten too but the reverse can be said. If you feel confident and energized then the rest of the world will appear better. Like seeing everything with those rose colored glasses, and wear them everyday because rose is a great pop of color!
Take this outfit for example. This is a perfect outfit for a casual Friday. The jeans are the Old Navy rockstar jeans and paired with a nice blazer and heels it is set for a day at the office! There is so much color in this outfit, totally not boring but still appropriate.

Here is another work outfit. I actually wore this outfit just last week. Yes, I realize the child is not work appropriate. Bree did not come with me! This Loft vintage tee has so much color in it with all the pretty stripes. It can be dressed down with a pair of jeans but I paired this with a nice basic skirt and adorable glitter heels and it is anything but basic. There is still some color even though it is subdued and super comfortable. You can still add color but not be too busy or bright either. Any way to get that pop of color will do just fine!

I love this skirt for work! The length is perfect and super work appropriate, it is super comfortable, and has a fun flowiness. I added more color with all the lavender but even if you kept things basic with white or black top and shoes it will still have a nice bright pop of color! Again, any way to add that extra pop of color is fine by me!

If you haven't been able to tell, I have been having a moment with yellow! This skirt I found at Target on clearance so it is no longer available but it is so basic that I have found similar versions of it. The shoes are a basic white heel that will go with anything. The entire bottom half of the outfit is basic but add a fun bright tee and voila! A nice pop of color and bright outfit. The top doesn't have to be the pop of color. Maybe you prefer to keep the top and skirt simple and add a nice colored shoe like a red or yellow. That will work too! Whatever will help you make your work outfit fun.

I love these pants for work. The pop of color is definitely present yet subtle. Cherry print is super fun! These pants are a basic black with a twist! I paired this with a red top and purse but even if you wore a black top it would still have some brightness to it. These pants are nice and thin during the hot summer months but not sheer and super comfortable!

A basic maxi dress should be in every woman's closet and this one is the most comfortable I ever wore! I bought this last year from Nordstrom Rack but Nordstrom brought it back again this year and for a reason. It is amazing! Super comfortable. Super flattering. It is a complete must have. A nice bright colored maxi by itself is enough to add the pop of color. You can keep it simple with a basic colored cardigan and it can still be fun for work. I decided to add a summery kimono blazer because when I go in, I go all in! This one is light but not too sheer, adds the perfect arm coverage for work but still great for summer so it won't make you feel too hot and sticky.

This outfit has one of the most subtle pops of color, but what makes it pop is the shape of this tank! The flowiness is great with that low draping back. It is super fun. Sometimes it is not just the color that adds some brightness but the shape of the clothes.

I love this sweater! The colors are so bright and fun. I like pairing it with a high waisted skirt or pant because it runs just a tad short on me so something high waisted will help cover any possible skin popping out. A nice bright sweater with a pencil skirt will be a fun outfit for the fall and winter. Just because the weather will get dreary and depressing doesn't mean you have to dress that way!
